Bailey Ober is looking to build on his strong return from the injured list. He’ll face off against the AL-leading Detroit Tigers and their powerful lineup. The Tigers currently rank 8th in the AL in home runs, which has been Ober’s Achilles heel his entire career, but this season especially.
The Twins will need a strong start from Ober as they’ll be facing off against 2024 AL Cy Young winner and 2025 favorite Tarik Skubal. Among qualified starters, Skubal ranks either first or second in fWAR, ERA, FIP, xFIP, xERA, SIERA, walks allowed, WHIP, strikeout rate, walk rate, and hard hit rate. All that to say he’s probably the best pitcher alive and, much to the Twins’ dismay, he also throws with his left hand.
