The Chicago White Sox have outrighted outfielder Corey Julks to Triple-A Charlotte, a roster move that follows a flurry of late-summer transactions and keeps Julks in the organization as depth while opening a 40-man roster spot.
The move came after the club designated Julks for assignment earlier this week when the White Sox selected right-hander Yoendrys Gómez and made other roster adjustments, including reinstating Miguel Vargas from the injured list and optioning reliever Elvis Peguero to Charlotte.
A brief big-league look
Julks’ stay with the big-league club this August was brief. He produced just eight plate appearances during his recent stint but made the most of them, posting a .375/.375/.625 line in that very small sample that included just eight plate appearances. The White Sox, however, treated Julks as a depth piece rather than a long-term roster solution.
Strong Triple-A resume
Julks has a track record of success at Triple-A. In 2025, with Charlotte, he hit .295/.373/.470 and posted a 117 wRC+ while swiping 13 bases. Over 1,258 Triple-A plate appearances since 2022, he carries a .275/.364/.485 line and a 119 wRC+, figures that underline his value as an organizational outfielder with on-base ability and power at the minor-league level.
Major-league profile and contract status
At the major-league level, Julks owns a .236/.290/.340 line and a 76 wRC+ in 520 career plate appearances. He has one option year remaining, which makes him potentially attractive to clubs seeking controllable depth this upcoming offseason: an acquiring team could keep him in the majors and still retain roster flexibility in 2026.
Julks previously passed through waivers in the offseason and was outrighted in January 2025, and he cleared waivers again this time. Since this marks a second outright in his career, he would have the right to elect free agency now, a decision Julks would need to weigh against the security of staying in the White Sox system. Either way, he will now qualify for minor league free agency at season’s end. For Corey Julks, the outright keeps him in place to continue producing at Triple-A and wait for another opportunity to force his way back onto a major-league roster, whether in Chicago or elsewhere.
