The Los Angeles Dodgers’ struggles in the Freeway Series went from bad to worse, and so did Michael Conforto’s season. Signed to a one-year, $17 million deal in the offseason to add depth, Conforto has instead become one of the biggest disappointments of 2025.

Against the Angels, the 32-year-old outfielder was practically invisible at the plate, like he has been most of the season. In Game 1, he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. It was the same story the following day, with 0-for-3 in his plate appearances. By Game 3, manager Dave Roberts had seen enough and benched him. The Dodgers went on to be swept by their crosstown rivals, slipping to second place in the NL West standings behind the San Diego Padres.

For the month of August, Conforto is just 3-for-30, a slump that has dropped his season slash line to .187/.299/.327 with a .627 OPS. His wRC+ of 81 ranks 147th out of 158 qualified hitters. It’s no wonder Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently listed him among MLB’s 12 most overpaid players this year.

Fans Urge Dodgers To DFA Michael Conforto https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=4Ckie8_13mQGalM00Michael Conforto (Image Credit: Imagn)

Fans haven’t been shy about expressing their frustration. Social media has been flooded with calls to DFA the 32-year-old outfielder.

Here are some reactions:

“You have to DFA Michael Conforto. You just have to. He doesn’t help the Dodgers,” one fan commented.

“Michael Conforto is the worst player in baseball. There is no reason for him to continue to get playing time. What a waste of $17 million,” another angry Dodgers’ fan wrote.

“i’m so fucking sick of michael conforto,” one fan posted.

“Michael Conforto, much like Tanner Scott, should be labeled as an Avengers level threat to the American way of life,” another fan commented.

“Dead last in every offensive category among the qualified hitters and gets to play every single day,” one fan wrote.

“Lamest Dodger ever!” another angry fan reacted.

“The biggest scrub I’ve ever seen. Let anyone else play over him! Bring back Barnes!” one X user wrote.

The Dodgers’ front office may not wait until Conforto’s contract expires at the end of the season to cut ties. The team has an outfield option in Alex Call whom the LA acquired from the Washington Nationals. While Conforto bats left-handed, Call could be deployed as a right-handed option, particularly against lefties.

With the MLB heading into the final stretch of the season, time is running out for the Dodgers and Conforto.
