CLEVELAND — The Guardians wrap up their three-game series against the Miami Marlins Aug. 14 at Progressive Field.
The Guardians took the first game behind Jose Ramirez’s 27th career multi-homer day, which was followed by a beat-down by the Marlins Aug. 13.

Guardians make it 1-run score vs Marlins
Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez and Jose Ramirez opened the first inning with singles to make it 3-1. A wild pitch later in the inning brought home a second run, making it 3-2.
Guardians, Marlins score: Miami puts up 3-run 1st inning
The Marlins, for the second consecutive night, put up a big first inning against the Guardians.
Xavier Edwards singled, Kyle Stowers walked and Agustin Ramirez doubled to bring home a run. With one out, Otto Lopez grounded a ball to the left side. The throw came home and beat Stowers to the plate by several paces. But Austin Hedges couldn’t hold onto the ball, which allowed not one but two runs to score on the play, making it 3-0 Marlins.

It’s a costly error for a normally sure-handed defensive catcher.

The Guardians began a six-game homestand against the Marlins and Atlanta Braves Aug. 12 that runs through the week. That will be followed by a six-game road trip beginning Aug. 18 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and then the Texas Rangers (Aug. 22-24).
