Looks like the Atlanta Braves mustered the remainder of their energy to pour it into this series finale against the New York Mets in a come-from-behind 4-3 win.
The season series is now owned by the Braves, making this their eighth one in a row against the Mets.
After both teams started scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, Francisco Lindor homered on a fly ball to center field to put the Mets on the board.
The Braves didn’t stay quiet for long after Ozzie Albies followed up with a homer in the fourth, electrifying the crowd and spiking up the offense.
Albies would then go on in the sixth inning to gain an RBI single, bringing in Drake Baldwin for a one-run lead (2-1) against the Mets.
The Mets decided to take the reins back after a sac-fly from Brandon Nimmo to bring Lindor in to tie it up.
In the same inning, a stolen base from Juan Soto put him in scoring position to eventually run one in due to a single from Pete Alonso, taking back the lead (3-2) to end the sixth.
The Braves wouldn’t score again until the top of the eighth, where Michael Harris, who’s been making ascending strides as of late, clutched an RBI double to bring in Eli White to tie the scoreboard up once again.
Harris later went on to tally up two more hits, making this his sixth consecutive multi-hit game.
To put it in more perspective on how well he’s been doing this second half, his batting average is now .381 post All-Star break, making his new overall average .250.
The tweaks that were made to switch up his gameplay are pretty impressive.
Another RBI double from Albies (making this his third of the night) would bring Harris in to score and regain the lead and final run for the Braves to secure the win (4-3).
Also, this was Matt Olson’s 741st consecutive game, surpassing Dale Murphy’s total (740).
We’ve experienced a respectable outing from Bryce Elder tonight, as he dealt through seven innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs, two walks and six total strikeouts, until he was finally relieved by Dylan Lee in the bottom of the eighth to finish the drill.
Overall, a win that the team needed to not only clinch the season series, but also a momentum booster heading on the road to Cleveland to face the Guardians.
Also, did you hear the news?
There’s a pretty high chance that a familiar powerhouse could be returning to get activated in this Cleveland series.
That’s right, Ronald Acuña Jr. might be finding his way back in the lineup, so if you thought this series ending was fun… just wait, there’s still more season to go.
