Colt Keith scored the decisive run in the 11th inning as the Detroit Tigers rallied from an early deficit to edge the Minnesota Twins 4-3 on Thursday night. Starting the extra frame on second base, Keith advanced to third on a wild pitch from Erasmo Ramírez (0-1) and came home on Gleyber Torres’ sacrifice fly.
Riley Greene provided a big spark for Detroit, blasting his team-leading 28th home run in the fourth inning after Kerry Carpenter’s double, trimming the Tigers’ deficit to 3-2. Detroit has now won four of its last five and five of its last seven games.
Rafael Montero (1-1) earned the win by recording the final four outs. Starter Tarik Skubal endured a rough third inning – giving up a solo homer to Edouard Julien and run-scoring hits to Ryan Jeffers and Luke Keaschall – but settled in to retire 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. Skubal worked seven innings, allowing three runs and striking out three.
