AUGUSTA, Georgia (WRDW/WAGT) – For the first time since 2011, Paine College will be looking for a new head baseball coach.
Melvin Marshall, who has served as head coach of two Lions athletic programs, is taking over as head coach for Dillard University’s baseball program.
Marshall served as Paine’s head baseball coach for 14 years, and as head basketball coach for five years.
During his time in Augusta, he led the Lions baseball team to multiple postseason runs, and multiple conference titles in basketball.

In his new role down in New Orleans, Marshall will be able to focus all efforts on just one sport.
Although, he told WRDW back in February that he didn’t mind being head coach of two programs.
“It’s not difficult for me, honestly,” he said. “It’s a different ballgame, a different sport, but it’s the same mentality.”
In his absence, Paine will be searching for its next head coaches in each sport.
