Cincinnati Reds minor-leaguer Tyson Lewis, a 19-year-old shortstop ranked the organization’s No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline, hit a two-out, go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the 7th inning to rally the Low-A Daytona Tortugas past the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, 6-4.
Lewis, MLB Pipeline’s 85th-ranked prospect overall, was promoted to Daytona earlier this season after batting .340 with six homers, 19 stolen bases and an OPS of .928 for the Reds’ Arizona Complex League team.

In his first 74 plate appearances for the Tortugas, Lewis batted .242 with three homers and an OPS of .779.

Lewis was a 2024 MLB draft second-round pick of the Reds
Lewis came to the Reds from Millard West High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He got a signing bonus of $3,047,500, second-highest of any second-rounder that year.
Lewis was committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks before opting to sign with the Reds.
Twenty picks after the Reds took Lewis 51st overall, they selected pitcher Luke Holman 71st, in competitive balance round B.
Cincinnati took pitcher Chase Burns in the first round (second overall) of that draft.

Lewis is only three days younger than Daytona teammate Alfredo Duno
Lewis was born January 10, 2006; Duno, a catcher who ranks third among MLB Pipeline’s Reds prospects, was born January 7 of that year.
In high school, Lewis was named the Gatorade Nebraska High School player of the year. He led Millard West to a 33-5 record and the Class A state championship as a senior.
Lewis batted .496 with eight home runs and 41 RBI while scoring 53 runs with 31 stolen bases in his final season for the Wildcats, with a 1.491 OPS.

MLB Pipeline describes Lewis as a “left-handed hitter with a quick stroke … (who) has the chance to be a solid hitter with at least average power in the future.”
Lewis also pitched in high school, and recorded a 6.4-second 60-yard dash.
