The Cincinnati Reds are playing some pretty excellent baseball of late. They’re fresh off a series victory at home against the Philadelphia Phillies – class of the NL East – and went into Wrigley Field last week and stole a series against the Chicago Cubs, too.

They bought at the trade deadline, and Miguel Andujar has been blasting baseballs for them ever since. They’re 6 games over .500, which ties their best mark of the 2025 campaign, and they sit just a half-game out of the final NL Wild Card position (currently occupied by the reeling New York Mets).

They’re also about to host the biggest home series in recent Great American Ball Park memory this weekend, as the white-hot Milwaukee Brewers bring the best record in baseball to town while currently riding an impressive 12-game win streak.

What the Beers have been able to accomplish already this season is nothing short of remarkable. They’re 76-44 at the moment with a ridiculous +159 run differential, and that’s after having waved goodbye to the likes of Corbin Burnes, Josh Hader, Devin Williams, Willy Adames, GM David Stearns, and manager Craig Counsell over the last few seasons.

Quite frankly, they aren’t just the class of the National League Central anymore. They’re rightfully the talk of all of baseball, their ability to mold overlooked arms into elite, efficient starters the envy of the league.

That’s what stands in the way of the Reds this weekend at GABP. The Brewers, now 8 games up on the Cubs in the Central, are headed not just to the postseason, but for a serious run deep into it, and the Reds have the chance to put their own dents in ‘em this weekend on the big stage before embarking on a critical 9-game west coast road trip next week.

Friday night’s series opener between these two clubs will be carried on Apple TV+, unfortunately, and will start at 6:40 PM ET. Nick Martinez will start for Cincinnati while Milwaukee has yet to name their starter.

Saturday will feature deadline acquisition Zack Littell on the bump for the Reds, while All-Star lefty Andrew Abbott will start the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

GABP’s going to be rockin’ this weekend, and the hope is that the Reds – who’ve yet to be swept this season in any series – can take their own elite streak head to head with Milwaukee’s current win streak and come out better on the other side.

It’s the biggest series in GABP in years.
