Two high school baseball players from the city of Ottawa have committed to play NCAA Division I baseball in 2026.
Alec Novotney, a senior at Marquette, announced his commitment to Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. Novotney was a key piece to the Crusaders winning back-to-back IHSA Class 1A state championships in 2024 and 2025. As a sophomore, the pitcher and shortstop was named the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association 1A Player of the Year.
Ottawa High School senior, Adam Swanson, a catcher and outfielder, has committed to Bradley University. According to Prep Baseball Illinois, Swanson is currently the No. 37 recruit in the state. Swanson also played for Team Heartland in summer ball and Team Illinois at the Future Games in July at Emerson, Georgia.
