The Tampa Bay Rays succesfully traveled to Sacramento and took a series victory against the Athletics.
It’s odd that in a series in which the Rays were shutout during one of the games, that would be a trio of offensive standouts. That trio, Junior Caminero, Brandon Lowe, and Chandler Simpson all had a 268 wRC+ over the three games with Caminero and Lowe both launching two homeruns while Simpson collected six basehits and a stolen base.
However, only one player can be named our coveted Player of the Series and that honor goes to Brandon Lowe.
Over the three games, Brandon Lowe hit .417/.429/1.000 with the aforementioned two homeruns (one of which may not have landed yet). The blast came during Wednesday’s series finale against the Athletics when Lowe took a 3-2 pitch from J.T. Ginn and sent it 458ft away from home plate making it the second longest homerun of his career; the longest 459ft and happened on 8/13/2020 against the Boston Red Sox.
Since returning from yet another stint on the Injured List, Brandon Lowe has been red hot, hitting .314/.345/.647 with 5 HR over his last 55 PA, registering a 169 wRC+.
Overall this season, Lowe is hitting .275/.323/.503 with 24 HR, accruing 1.7 fWAR and registering a 127 wRC+ over 405 plate appearances.
