Guardians pitcher John Means had a scoreless outing in his rehab appearance during the Captains’ 6-5 victory over Peoria on Aug. 15 at Classic Auto Group Park.

Means was pitching in his second game since undergoing Tommy John surgery while he was with the Orioles last season. His first outing was Aug. 10 at the Guardians’ spring training complex in Arizona.

With the Captains on Aug. 15, Means pitched 2 2/3 innings. He gave up one hit and struck out three. He made 38 pitches with 30 for strikes.

Lake County scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. With one out, Nick Mitchell singled, stole second base and came home on a single by Jaison Chourio.

Mitchell also hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning and finished with two steals.

Left fielder Ryan Cesarini, who joined the team earlier this month from Low-A Lynchburg, had three hits and scored twice. He also had two stolen bases.

The Captains had 10 hits, including three doubles, and six stolen bases. They also struck out 10 times.

Sean Matson gave up all five of Peoria’s runs in relief of Means. Jay Driver pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to improve to 2-1.

The series continues Aug. 16 in Eastlake.
