Travis Bazzana went 0 for 2 but walked 3 times, George Valera went 2 for 4 with a double, and Christian Cairo went 3 for 4 with a double. Austin Peterson (9 hits and 1 walk allowed) and Trevor Stephan both had very difficult outings. Best to forget about those and hope for better days in the future.
Ralphy Velazquez went 3 for 4 with two home runs, a double, and a walk. He has more than continued the torrid stretch he was on to end his time in Lake County. Christian Knapczyk went 3 for 5 and Wuilfredo Antunez and Jake Fox both went 2 for 4, while Angel Genao added a double. Matt Jahec pitched an inning and two-thirds scoreless, lowering his ERA to 2.04, after Yorman Gomez’s first rough start in Double-A (three runs and three walks in four innings).
Ryan Cesarini went 3 for 5 with two doubles, Jaison Chourio went 2 for 3 with two walks, Nick Mitchell went 2 for 4 with a homer and a walk, and Bennett Thompson added a double in a great hitting day for the Captains. However, the true highlight was two and two-thirds scoreless from the rehabbing John Means, who threw 30 of 38 pitches for strikes, allowing one hit and striking out 3.
Braylon Doughty pitched four scoreless innings, allowing only four hits, no walks and five strikeouts, and Aaron Walton went 2 for 4 as the Hillcats edged out the Shorebirds. Watch out for right-handed reliever Angel Perez who pitched two scoreless and has a 1.04 ERA for Lynchburg.
