The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres, 3-2, on Friday night. LA improved to 69-53 and move into a tie with the Friars for first place in the NL West.
Ahead of the eventual victory, the Dodgers added a first baseman to the club. In a corresponding move, a right-handed pitcher was designated for assignment.
Unfortunately, All-Star third baseman Max Muncy was placed on the injured list a little more than a week after he returned from a month-long stint on the shelf. Manager Dave Roberts is confident that the slugger will return before the end of the regular season.
Additionally, the Dodgers have continued to downplay the Padres’ rivalry ahead of the six-game in 10-day marathon. Some players feel as though the Friars care more about their divisional foes than the Dodgers do.
Finally, flamethrowing reliever Brusdar Graterol had an unfortunate update from Roberts as the bullpen suffers another blow. The skipper didn’t appear hopeful that Graterol would make his return this season.
