August 6th, 2025 was a big day here at ye old Braves sports blog nation. The sites were updated and some fun things were unveiled on both public and private sides of the Battery Power. Something else interesting happened the next day. The Brewers had completed a sweep of the Braves on the sixth, and the Marlins had a 6-2 lead on the Braves on the 7th. Normally allowing a 5-run fifth leads to a curb stomping, yet the Braves scored 6 runs after the sixth to win that game. Since then, Michael Harris and Marcell Ozuna have gone full supernova. Matt Olson, Jurickson Profar, and Drake Baldwin are hitting at least 50 percent better than the league. Even Vidal Brujan and Ozzie Albies have chipped in. The pitching, save Carlos Carrasco, has been really quite good, and Hurston Waldrep looks like a straight-up wonderkid. They’ve won seven of nine, so here’s a picture of Jeri Ryan.
So was August 6th rock bottom for the 2025 Braves? We kept asking if we were there yet for the first three months of the season, only to see them plumb new depths. On Thursday, Dan Szymborski chimed in to say that the Braves looked to be on pace for a 79-win season for 2026. Heck, the Braves could get to 79 games this season even after losing their entire starting rotation to injury. It’s not very likely for the Braves to finish 25-15 the rest of the way, but it’s not absurd either. This may be the confirmation that we’re looking for. In any case, it’s great to see Michael Harris putting it back together, Hurston Waldrep starting to emerge, and Raisel Iglesias stop throwing lifeless sliders.
