“It’s a game in August, obviously,” Kershaw said. “It’s not that huge a deal. But the way we were going, it felt like a big game for us. Thankfully, we got a win.”

Kershaw’s next start — most likely Thursday afternoon in Denver — will be his 16th of the season, earning him a $1 million bonus, the final one of his contract incentives totaling $8.5 million in addition to his $7.5 million base salary. Kershaw to date already earned $2.5 million for 30 days on the active roster, and $1 million each for 60 and 90 days, with the latter bonus earned on Thursday. He also earned $1 million each of his 13th, 14th, and 15th start.
