Detroit Tigers’ Scott Harris on bullpen market at trade deadline

Detroit Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris talks July 31, 2025, about his evaluation of the bullpen market at the trade deadline.

After a quick visit back home, the Detroit Tigers head back on the road for seven games in seven days.

The first part of the Tigers’ road stretch takes place in Chicago, where Detroit will take on the Chicago White Sox for a three-game series from Monday, Aug. 11, to Wednesday. This comes after the Tigers completed a series win against the Los Angeles Angels with a 9-5 win on Sunday.

The Tigers remain in first place with a six-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central. Meanwhile, the White Sox — though improved over the 2024 team — are in last place in the AL Central with an AL-worst 43-75 record.

While currently playing in a span of 13 days without a day off, the Tigers are planning on giving their starters an extra day of rest by switching things up for the White Sox series. Their starting rotation will get an extra day of rest before the team’s four-game series against the Minnesota Twins, but as a result, Wednesday’s matchup against the White Sox does not yet have a designated starter.

Here’s what you need to know about the Tigers’ upcoming series on the South Side:

Rest of Tigers vs. White Sox series start times

Those of you accustomed to tuning into the Tigers at 6:40 or 7:10 p.m. ET should be wary of Chicago and its central time zone, where the White Sox start games are at times Tigers fans may not be used to.

Monday: 7:40 p.m. ET (FSND).

Tuesday: 7:40 p.m. ET (FSND).

Wednesday: 2:10 p.m. ET (FSDN).

The central time zone weirdness will continue into the following four-game weekend series against the Minnesota Twins, which takes place from Thursday, Aug. 14 to Sunday, Aug. 17.

Tigers vs. White Sox pitching matchup

Tigers starters Chris Paddack and Jack Flaherty slot into their usual spot in the rotation for the first two games against the White Sox, but Tarik Skubal, whose turn in the rotation slotted him for Wednesday’s game, will wait until Thursday to make his next start.

That leaves Wednesday’s starting spot open, with Tigers manager A.J. Hinch saying the team will “figure it out as we get there.”

Monday: RHP Chris Paddack (DET) vs. RHP Elivs Peguero (CWS).

Tuesday: RHP Jack Flaherty (DET) vs. TBD.

Wednesday: TBD vs RHP Shane Smith (CWS).
