The Texas Rangers were built in 2025 to both pitch and mash the baseball. One of those things happened.
The Rangers offense has been dreadful and we have talked about it again and again. It is still bad 4 months into the season.
Hopes for a division championship are all but lost, and the Wild Card is also starting to slip away. The Rangers are 2-8 in their last 10 games.
There are 5 teams in front of the Rangers for 3 wild card spots. Two of those teams are the Rangers next two opponents, the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Guardians.
They have 37 games left this season, and to make it into the post season they would have to most likely win 24-13 and worst.
I have no confidence that the number 24 is reachable. This team has not shown the fans that they can go on a long winning streak, or win for an extended period of time. The 9-1 homestand will wind up being the pinnacle of their season.
Look Ahead
Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, Joc Pederson, Josh Jung all are having disappointing seasons. Nathaniel Lowe was DFA’s by the Nationals, and the man we traded Lowe for is a home run machine. The problem is that Robert Garcia is a pitcher.
The pitching has faltered just a little of late, and with the lackluster offense, that spells disaster. The Rangers have a tough schedule to finish out the season.
It may be time to look forward to the 2026 season, and who will be here still with the team. If I was a betting man, I would say Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim and Jon Gray at least are gone.
There will be more, this roster needs some fresh blood. I know they signed Pederson for 2 years, but they may also move off of him.
This team needs some passion and it needs to enjoy playing baseball again. They haven’t really looked like they enjoy their jobs since the end of 2023.
Some team handle success well, and other teams don’t. I think we may be seeing that the Rangers are the ladder team.
While they technically still have a chance at the Wild Card, this next week will really tell us if that is true or not. If they lost one or both series to the teams in front of them, I will not be hopeful of their chances.
