A’s third base coach Eric Martins joined The Allen Stiles Show on Tuesday, where he credited the Athletics’ scouting department for their abundance of young talent and prospects.

Jacob Wilson, Nick Kurtz, and Denzel Clarke have already made their big league debuts. Kurtz continues to hit it out of the yard, adding onto his already highly favorable American League Rookie of the Year campaign.

In the A’s most recent series against the Angels, rookie outfielder Colby Thomas also made his big league debut. He had two HRs and drove in five RBIs throughout the series.

Martins discussed the play of Thomas, along with their abundance of young talent.

Coach credited the scouting department, where he previously worked, for identifying talent, such as Matt Chapman.

Their farm system, allowing guys to feel ready for the majors, shouldn’t be overlooked either.

Martins also shared his impression of potential future superstar shortstop Leo De Vries, who is climbing up the minor leagues.
