Great Crossing got revenge for an April loss to Franklin County on Thursday, beating them 8-2 in Georgetown. Brenna Parker pitched sixi innings, giving up five hits and two runs.

Walks hurt Parker in the seventh, as two singles, two walks and a fielder’s choice allow the Flyers to get their only runs of the evening.  

Kyleigh Harrrison came in to shut the door with the bases loaded, and immediately fielded a comebacker to get a the lead runner and the runner headed to first. A groundout ended the game. 

“I just thought I needed to keep the lead, and not overthink it like I usually do,” said Harrison, a freshman. “I just had to pitch it, and I knew my defense would back me up.” 

At the plate, eight members of the starting lineup got a hit. Audrey Green was three-for-four with an run scored. Ashtyn Holbrook had a double and a triple for three RBI’s and a run scored. Ellie Hoover was two for three with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Mara Livingston was two for three at the plate, and Ava Collins had two hits. 

Parker gave up six walks, some of which may have had to do with a small strike zone.

“Umpire had a really tight strike zone,” GC coach Heat Sutton said. “That takes a lot of pitches away from a pitcher … It’s frustrating, but he called it consistent both sides.” 

The Warhawks traveled to Bowling Green for games Friday and Saturday, winning won and dropping two. Henderson County (25-6) blanked GC on Friday, 4-0. 

On Saturday, the Warhawks (11-10) fell to Greenwood (28-7) before getting a 6-3 win against Livingston Central (22-5). 

Dakota Mullins and Ellie Hoover had two RBI’s a piece, with Mara Livingston and Emma Sutton driving in a run apiece. 

Hoover and Harrison had circle duty, with Hoover throwing 3.2 scoreless inning with four strikeouts to close out the game, and Harrison throwing 3.1 innings and giving up three runs. 

Baseball: Warhawks’ win streak hits 10 before loss

A win against Bullit East on Saturday stretched the Great Crossing Warhawk’s win streak to 10, matching their program record before falling to Beechwood later in the day. 

Eli Adkins had a three run double in fifth to break a 3-all tie and put the Warhawks ahead for good. GC scored five runs in the fifth to erase a 3-2 deficit. 

Collier Curtis had three hits and threw three one-run innings on the mound, striking out four and taking the win. 

GC now sits at 19-7, and they travel up the bypass to Scott County  (19-8) tonight at 7 p.m. 

Baseball: Scott County goes 2-1 in Lexington

Scott County baseball got revenge against Tates Creek with a  4-2 win Saturday in Lexington. 

Keagan Hurt pitched a seven inning complete game, striking out 10 and giving up just two unearned runs.
