Southern California MLB teams went 0-for-3 Monday.
The lowly Colorado Rockies (36-89 at press time Tuesday) rallied to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 at Colorado. The Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 at Anaheim, and the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 4-3 at San Diego.
The Giants beat the Padres after the Padres out-scored them 20-3 in a three-game series sweep at San Francisco last week. The Dodgers remained two games ahead of the second-place Padres in the National League West Division at press time.
Ezequiel Tovar tied the game for the Rockies with just his seventh home run of the year, a solo shot that tied the game 3-3 in the seventh. Tovar scored on Warming Bernabel’s walk-off single to center field in the ninth.
The Dodgers and Rockies, Reds and Angels, and Giants and Padres were to resume their respective series Tuesday and conclude them Wednesday.
In the American League Central Division, the once slumping Detroit Tigers lengthened their lead on the second-place Cleveland Guardians to 8.5 games after the Tigers had won seven of their last 10 games. In the NL East, the Philadelphia Phillies lengthened their division lead on the New York Mets to 5.5 games. Â
