SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Ahead of the Detroit Tigers’ second home game against the Houston Astros, several players and their families participated in a special community event supporting children with physical or cognitive disabilities.
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, Spencer Torkelson, Zach McKinstry, and Parker Meadows joined volunteers from the Detroit Tigers Foundation, Easterseals MORC – Miracle League of Michigan, and the Fantasy Camp for Kids Foundation to host the annual Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids.
The event, held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Easterseals Miracle League Field in Southfield, provided 50 children from the Metro Detroit area the opportunity to learn and play baseball alongside current Tigers players.
The Miracle League of Michigan supports children with diverse needs across multiple locations, ensuring accessibility and inclusion in the sport.
Camp activities included stations designed to teach baseball fundamentals, led by Tigers players, front office staff, volunteers, Wayne State University athletes, and Tigers Nike RBI athletes.
All participants received a Tigers jersey and hat.
Following the camp, the Tigers players invited the youth participants to attend an upcoming game at Comerica Park.
The event took place at Easterseals Miracle League Field, located at 26000 Evergreen Rd., Southfield.
