The Baltimore Orioles promoted outfield prospect Dylan Beavers from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, slotting him into the starting lineup for his MLB debut where he’ll bat sixth and play right field in Houston against the Astros. Veteran outfielder Greg Allen was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Beavers was the 33rd overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft, and after a disappointing season in 2024 the toolsy outfielder found his stride this season in Norfolk, slashing .304/.420/.515 with 18 home runs and 23 stolen bases in 418 plate appearances.
The strong performance lifted Beavers onto Baseball America’s top 100 prospect list in August at No. 83 overall, where he ranks as the No. 3 prospect in Baltimore’s farm system.
The timing of Beavers’ promotion is entirely unsurprising, as it is just under 45 days until the end of the season. Assuming the O’s keep him under 130 at-bats, Beavers will retain rookie eligibility into 2026 which keeps him eligible for Prospect Promotion Incentive status.

Orioles GM /Mike Elias indicated the team would take PPI rules into account when making prospect promotion decisions around Beavers and fellow top prospect Samuel Basallo, who has yet to be promoted but could come up soon with Baltimore firmly in last place in the AL East.
