You already saw the headline, but before we get to that I’ll quickly mention that the Guardians lost 6-5 to Arizona last night. Tanner Bibee started and blew approximately 15 more leads, bringing his season total to an approximate 739.
The move for Messick isn’t official yet, but everything is pointing towards it. Last week, the Guardians cleared a 40-man spot. Then they demoted their 4 starter Joey Cantillo and didn’t call up a replacement. Then yesterday a handful of news-adjacent people who cover the team said it was going to be him. So I think we can safely say Parker Messick is today’s SP.
But back to the L to Arizona for a minute… in the bottom of the 8th, 2 men were on base and Austin Hedges was due up. 3 solid LHH were on the bench. Stephen Vogt LET HEDGES BAT. It was an absolutely obscene process, but because Hedges singled, the result was good.
