In a corresponding move, LHP Parker Messick has been called up from Triple-A Columbus.

Hernandez was recently claimed off waivers by the Guardians after he pitched to a 10.13 ERA in 11 appearances for the Detroit Tigers. He then appeared in just five games for the Guardians, pitching a 3.86 ERA in 7.0 innings of work.

The long-time veteran reliever will now have to find a new home after being let go. LHP Parker Messick will now take his place on the Guardians pitching staff.

Messick was drafted in the 2nd round by the Guardians in the 2022 MLB Draft, and has yet to debut in the majors. With Triple-A Columbus this season, Parker is 5-6 with a 3.47 ERA, and 119 strikeouts in 98.2 innings of action.
