How Astros are impacted following Taylor Trammell’s injury originally appeared on The Sporting News
The sun came up today, and a Houston Astros player has suffered an injury.
During the first inning of the Astros’ contest against the Detroit Tigers, outfielder Taylor Trammell was banged up after hitting the center field wall at a nasty angle after attempting to chase down a fly ball.

Trammell had to be carted off the Comerica Park field and is currently being evaluated for a concussion and also stiffness in his neck and back.
How Does His Injury Affect Houston?
On a team that is likely sick of dealing with injuries at this point, the Astros’ outfield does take quite a hit should Trammell be required to miss some time, as his glove in the outfield is largely what makes him an everyday starter.
His bat has been lacking thus far with only a .211 average with 11 runs batted in and three home runs, but hopefully the rest of the Astros outfield can make do in his absence
Cam Smith is included in that category, and he’s been sensational in his rookie year for the team.

That also includes Jesus Sanchez, who recently joined the team at the trade deadline from the Miami Marlins, Jacob Melton, and also Chas McCormick.
Long story short, the Astros should be okay if Trammell has to go on the injured list, but any injury this late in the season could deal quite a blow to the team’s long-term performance, playoffs especially.
