BRADFORD — Beating the weather and going over .500 in its regular-season finale, the Brookville Lady Raiders softball team shut out Bradford 12-0 in five innings at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
The Lady Raiders take a 9-8 record into the District 9 Class 2A playoffs with pairings announced by the end of the week.
Scoring six in the third inning, four in the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth, the Lady Raiders banged out 12 hits with Jordan Daisley leading the way by going 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Kailin Bowser, Alyssa Tollini and Makaya McLaughlin all had two hits. Bowser scored three runs.
The offense was more than enough for the Lady Raiders pitcher Tollini, who tossed her first shutout after allowing six hits and one walk while striking out four.
It’s the first Lady Raiders shutout win since May 15 of 2019 when Carlie McManigle threw a five-inning no-hitter in a 15-0 win at home against Bradford.
Tollini, a senior, happened to throw her shutout on the same field where she’ll play in college as she’s attending Pitt-Bradford starting this fall.
The last time the Lady Raiders finished the regular season with a winning record was also in 2019 when they were 10-9 before losing in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Clearfield.
