College baseball is getting a seeding update, according to D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, in an effort to better balance the regional round of the NCAA Tournament. The change comes in two parts, both of which should lead to more transparency about how teams, specifically 2-seeds, are assigned to a host’s regional.Â
First, the selection committee will now seed the top 32 teams, rather than the top 16. The top 16 seeding remains the same, with each team being assigned a host site and seeds 1-8 representing the national seeds. The additional seeding of teams 17-32 provides a ordered picture of the 2-seeds, giving clarity to how the committee views each of those teams.Â
