The Dodgers on Thursday called up Matt Sauer from Triple-A Oklahoma City before Thursday’s series finale against the Rockies, adding a fresh arm in place of Paul Gervase, who was optioned to the minors after pitching two innings in relief on Wednesday night.

This is the sixth stint in the majors this season for Sauer, who has a 6.18 ERA and 4.74 xERA in his nine games, including one start and one four-inning save, with 22 strikeouts and eight walks in 27 2/3 innings.

In Triple-A Sauer has been starter in 15 of his 16 appearances, with a 4.86 ERA, 73 strikeouts, and 23 walks in 76 innings. He last pitched on Saturday, and allowed five runs in five innings to Albuquerque. Since last getting optioned on June 18, Sauer had a 5.23 ERA in 10 starts, with 53 strikeouts and 20 walks in 53 1/3 innings.
