After a hard fought win last night, the Nationals evened the series against the Mets. That sets up a rubber match where ace MacKenzie Gore is on the mound. After a brutal run after the All-Star break, Gore has been sharp in his last two outings. Hopefully he keeps that up.
Miguel Cairo will continue to mix and match. With a lefty on the mound, he will make some changes. Andres Chaparro is back at first base. The still struggling James Wood will be moved to DH. Paul DeJong will slide over to second so Brady House can play third. Jacob Young is in center and Riley Adams is behind the plate. He will be catching MacKenzie Gore.
With a couple injuries and a lefty on the hill, the Mets will make some tweaks too. Starling Marte will be in the lineup as a DH. Tyrone Taylor will replace the injured Brandon Nimmo. Brett Baty will slide over to second base. Hayden Senger will catch for the Mets. After a long term injury, Sean Manaea has not been as sharp as he was last year, but he is still a good left handed arm.
