If you blinked, you missed it.
Cleveland’s Cade Smith came on in the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead as the Guardians tried to finish off a series-opening win over the Texas Rangers. It didn’t take long for that 3-2 lead to turn into a 4-3 loss.
Wyatt Langford took the fifth pitch of his at-bat 104.1 mph back up the middle and used his blazing speed to turn a single into a hustle double. Then Corey Seager took the first pitch he saw and blasted it 108.5 mph into the outfield to score Langford and tie the game.
Two pitches, two hits and all of a sudden the game was tied.

But the Rangers had more in mind. With Seager advancing to second on Cleveland’s throw home attempting to nail Langford, the winning run was in scoring position.
Joc Pederson only needed one pitch, too. He took the first pitch he saw and ripped it 104.5 mph into right center field, scoring Seager easily and securing Texas’ walkoff win.
