ARLINGTON — One World Series-winning bat in, one World Series-winning bat out.

The Texas Rangers activated right fielder Adolis García from the 10-day injured list prior to Saturday’s game vs. the Cleveland Guardians at Globe Life Field.

García, who was placed on the injured list Aug. 13 with a left ankle sprain, slashed .185/.197/.338 with 16 strikeouts in the 15 games he played before his injury. The Rangers moved second baseman Marcus Semien, who suffered a foot contusion in Thursday’s loss to the Kansas City Royals, to the 10-day injured list.

The Rangers have placed second baseman Marcus Semien on the injured list with the foot injury that they’ve yet to fully diagnosis and recalled outfielder Adolis Garcia.

This is Semien’s first trip to the IL since 2017.

Garcia took live batting practice Friday and hit off of a machine Saturday before his activation.

The 32-year-old has slashed .224/.266/.388 with 16 home runs in 116 games this season. His 79 wRC+ and 89 OPS+ are both career lows since he became a full-time major leaguer.

He hit sixth and started in right field Saturday vs. Cleveland left-hander Logan Allen. Bochy acknowledged that he may see more time in that position of the lineup before he resumes middle-of-the-order duties.

“We’ll see where he’s at with his swing because he’s missed some time,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “He looked good [during live batting practice]. He looked like he was seeing the ball well, did a lot of tracking, but also got some swings in and some good swings.”

García‘s activation adds depth to a Texas outfield that’s taken multiple hits in the last week. The Rangers placed Evan Carter on the injured list Friday with a season-ending wrist fracture and are still without Sam Haggerty after his second bout with ankle inflammation this season. The Rangers used Wyatt Langford (left field), Michael Helman (center field) and García (right field) in the outfield Saturday while infielders Cody Freeman and Ezequiel Duran manned second and first base.

“We’re going to mix it up, keep everybody involved, move guys around,” Bochy said.
