The LA Dodgers (73-57) and the San Diego Padres (74-56) wrap up a 3-game series Sunday at Petco Park in San Diego. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s MLB odds around the Dodgers vs. Padres odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Dodgers lead 8-4

The Padres have exacted a little revenge after getting swept in a 3-game series Aug. 15-17, when L.A. outscored San Diego 14-6. The Padres have outscored the Dodgers 7-2 in a pair of victories, clinching the series win and taking a 1-game lead in the NL West.

It was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning Saturday when the Padres scored 3 runs. LHP Nestor Cortes Jr. allowed just 1 hit and 0 walks in 6 scoreless innings in an 81-pitch quality start and win, lowering his ERA to 4.66. SS Xander Bogaerts and CF Ramon Laureano each drove in 2 runs to lead the way.

The Dodgers managed just 2 hits. Pinch-hitter SS Alex Freeland belted a solo homer in the eighth inning to provide the only offense for Los Angeles.

San Diego has won 5 games in a row, and pitching has been a huge part of the success. The Padres have allowed just 8 total runs in the win streak, or 1.6 runs per game (RPG). The Under is 6-2-1 in the past 9 games for San Diego, while going 8-3-1 across the past 12 games.

L.A. is just 1-3 in the past 4 games, while the Under has cashed in 3 of those outings, too. The Under is 6-2-1 across the previous 9 contests.

Padres 3, Dodgers 2

The PADRES (-110) are a solid play at home, as they look to complete the sweep and return the favor after getting broomed at Chavez Ravine last weekend.

While Yamamoto has been strong on the road, go lightly here. However, Pivetta is fantastic at home, too, and runs should be at quite the premium Sunday.

If you’re a little on the conservative side, or you can’t figure out which way you’d like to go, backing Padres +1.5 (-185) at nearly 2 times your potential return is just too risky for not enough reward.

PASS, and just look to the moneyline instead.

UNDER 8 (-120) might be the best play on the board.

The Under is 3-1 in the past 4 games for the Dodgers, while going 6-2-1 in the past 9 outings.

For the Padres, the total has gone low at a 6-2-1 clip in the past 9 games, and 8-3-1 across the previous 12 outings since Aug. 11.
