After a strong homestand, the Detroit Tigers begin a six-game road trip on Monday night in Sacramento against the Athletics.

The Tigers hit the road after a strong stretch of baseball that has continued to keep them near the top of the Major League Baseball leaderboard, let alone the American League standings. While the team failed to sweep the Kansas City Royals this past weekend, with its loss on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Pakr snapping a five-game win streak, Detroit has a lot to be excited about as it nears the final month of the regular season.

The Tigers come into California’s capital having won nine of their last 11 games, going 8-5 against AL Central rivals in the month of August. They enter Monday night atop the division, 10.5 games ahead of the Royals, holding the best record in the AL.

The A’s are currently last in the AL West, 10.5 games back of a Wild Card spot.
