On the heels of getting swept in an agonizing series against the Chicago Cubs at home, the Los Angeles Angels will open a nine-game road trip against the Texas Rangers, as the team looks to get back in the win column.

Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.

Angels: Los Angeles (61-69) find themselves in a deep hole that they did not anticipate just over a week ago after a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team has suffered three consecutive series losses after getting swept by the Cubs.

As a result, the Angels now sit 8.5 games behind for a Wild Card spot, the team’s biggest margin since the trade deadline took place on July 31. The window to make a playoff push has gotten increasingly lower as time has gone on, as FanGraphs lists the Angels’ playoffs odds at 0.2% at the moment.

The struggles have stemmed as a collective, while the Angels are facing a recent injury bug. Starter Victor Mederos was pulled in the fourth inning in a tough start against the Cubs Saturday. The team cited right shoulder inflammation and put him on the injured list, which was also the case with reliever Carson Fulmer in Saturday’s game – he is now on the injured list.

Despite the negatives, there have been a few notable bright spots as the season progresses  – specifically third baseman Yoan Moncada, who had a two-homer game Friday after hitting one in their previous game Thursday.

Outfielder Jo Adell has been on a recent tear, hitting .423 over his last seven games and homering four times in that span.

Rangers: Texas (66-66) is coming off a three-game sweep of the Cleveland Guardians, a much needed series win for a team that had been slumping. The series win marked just their second in the month of August.

Like the Angels, the Rangers have been hit by a sudden injury bug. The team placed second baseman Marcus Semien and center fielder Evan Carter on the injured list over the weekend. Texas has placed six players on the injured list in the month of August alone.

They even experienced a scare in starter Jacob deGrom’s recent start being pushed back. deGrom skipped his scheduled start on Aug. 19 due to shoulder fatigue, but threw a bullpen since then and is scheduled to face the Angels to open the series Monday.

deGrom faced the Angels twice at Angel Stadium in July, reaching the sixth inning in each start and allowed three and five runs respectively in his starts.

Starter Nathan Eovaldi also faced the Angels twice that month, combining to allow only one run against the Angels in 13 innings. Eovaldi is slated to oppose the Angels’ Tyler Anderson in the series finale Wednesday.
