CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians have placed utility man Daniel Schneemann on the paternity list and recalled infielder Will Wilson from Triple-A Columbus to take his place.
A player can stay on the paternity list for up to three days to be with his family following the birth of a child.
Schneemann, one of the most versatile players on Cleveland’s roster, is hitting .225 (69 for 309) with 16 doubles, 10 homers and 32 RBI. He’s played games at second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield positions.
Cleveland drafted him in the 33rd round in 2018. This is his second season in the big leagues with the Guards.
The Guardians selected Wilson in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft in December from San Francisco.
The former No.1 pick of the Angels in 2019 had never played in the big league until this year with Cleveland. In 32 games with the Guards, Wilson is hitting .167 (12 for 72) with one RBI.
Wilson is hitting .258 (56 for 217) with 11 doubles, 10 homers and 31 RBI at Columbus. In 59 games, he’s posted a .802 OPS (on-base percentage + slugging percentage).
While Schneemann bats left-handed, Wilson bats right-handed.
