It’s not every day the Minnesota Twins get to step onto one of baseball’s most legendary stages. But in 2026, the team will be part of an unforgettable game straight out of a movie.

Minnesota Twins Struggle Through Tough 2025 Season

The 2025 baseball season has been a tough one so far for our own Minnesota Twins. They started the season on a promising note, putting together that impressive 13-game winning streak back in May. But since then, it’s been a different story.

After limping into the All-Star Break, the Twins promptly kicked off the second half of the 2025 season by losing several 3-game series to the Rockies, Dodgers, Nationals, and Red Sox, all of which resulted in the Twins front office putting on a fire sale that saw nearly 40 percent of their starting roster traded away.

Things got so bad, in fact, that earlier this month, it was reported that the Twins are on pace to have the lowest season attendance in Target Field history, with the fewest number of fans on hand since the stadium opened back in 2010.

The Philadelphia Phillies will play the Minnesota Twins in the Field of Dreams Game showcase event to be played in August, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports. Minnesota will be the home team.

The story goes onto say that the exact date will be released on Tuesday, August 26 2025, when the full MLB 2026 schedule is released. It’ll be the first time in four years an MLB game is played at the site near Dyersville, Iowa, which was made famous in the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner.

Field of Dreams Site Undergoes $80 Million Transformation

The site itself has undergone a massive renovation and expansion since the last MLB game was played there in 2022. CBS News reported in 2023 that it was sold to new owners who have spent $80 million to add nine ball fields for youth baseball and softball, a 100,000-square-foot fieldhouse, a 104-room boutique hotel, an RV park, a concert amphitheater, jogging trails through the cornfields, and more, the story said.
