KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – One of the hottest stretches of hitting in franchise history has resulted in Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino being named the AL Player of the Week.
Pasquantino, who had an extra-base hit on every day of the week, including six home runs, was given the award Monday, according to MLB. It’s the third time Pasquantino has won the award, including June 2-8 this season and Aug. 8-14, 2022.
Over the week of Aug. 18-24, Pasquantino hit .379, going 11-for-29 in a 7-game span that included an MLB-leading 6 home runs and AL-best 12 RBI.
From Monday through Friday, Pasquantino homered in five straight games, tying a Royals franchise record set by Mike Sweeney in 2002 and Salvador Perez in 2021.
