How are we feeling, folks? Bleary-eyed and tired? Wondering why the West Coast exists? Well, we only have two more days (nights?) of it to go, so stock up on energy drinks, get the coffee brewing, and let’s have a look at some news bites to keep us entertained until tonight’s game.
Today we’re looking at whether or not Tarik Skubal will hit his projected numbers for the season, what Scott Harris has to say about the plan for the rest of the year, and a lot of little bits and bobs from around baseball in general.
Let’s jump right into it.
Yes. Skubal is at 200 strikeouts through 25 starts. He has at least six starts remaining — possibly seven if the schedule lines up properly — and he has historically improved toward the end of the season. His September strikeout rate is his second highest of any month, and as he looks to become the first back-to-back American League Cy Young winner since Pedro Martinez in 1999-2000, finishing with a flourish will be paramount.
