CRAFTSBURY–The Lake Region Lady Rangers were in action in Craftsbury against the Chargers on Monday.
The Charges softball program was dormant for many years until they recently re-emerged.
This one would be all Lake Region, as the Lady Rangers put up a staggering 14 runs in the second inning, then added 5 more in the third, as they won 22-7 in five innings.
Lauren Legacy had a pair of singles a double, 4 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
Julia Gardner tripled, singled, drove in 4, and came home 3 times.
Ruby Gardner had 2 doubles, 2 walks, drove in 2, scored 3 times, and stole, what could be a school record, a total of 10 bases.
Lindsey Brown got the start, going 3 innings, striking out 7, while walking 3, allowing 4 hits and 5 runs.
Maddy McCoy came on in relief for the final 2 innings, getting 4 Ks, giving up 4 walks, no hits, and 2 runs.
Both pitchers hit a batter.
The win gets the Lady Rangers to within one game of .500 at 3-4.
The girls were back at on Tuesday against Spaulding at home, then they will host North Country on Thursday.
Both games have a 4:30 start time.
