MILWAUKEE— It’s been seven months since the families of Tyler Morano, Blake Baker and Natasha Taylor caught up with each other.
The last time all three families were together was when their children were selected to be Aurora All Stars and invited to meet with the Brewers during Spring Training. During that time each family was able to meet with Brewers stars Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio, and William Contreras.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Moreno, Baker and Taylor families reunited to play wiffle ball at Helfaer Field outside American Family Field.
“It was hugs all around for everyone,” said Eric Baker, Blake’s father. “We’ve really created a special relationship with these other families and we’ve all been through a lot of tough times over the past few years and we have some rough times ahead of us as well, but I think having other people that go through similar challenges is really important to the families as well as the kids.”
As the families played wiffle ball, Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick dropped by to say hello to catch up with the kids and to lend his hand in the game.
“I was fortunate enough to meet these kids during Spring training and it was nice that we were able to bring them out and chill with them for a weekend and meet them plus their families,” said Frelick. “It’s just awesome that you kind of just build a relationship and keep in touch with them out here in Milwaukee. Obviously baseball is my job, but this is also really important to me and any chance I can to get out and do stuff like this is amazing.”
While the afternoon catching up with Frelick was a great experience for all three families, the summer reunion will continue tonight as the Bakers, Moranos and Taylors will be going to watch tonight’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks from a private suite at American Family Field.
