The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3, on Tuesday and improved to 76-57 on the year thanks to a Clayton Kershaw gem and the return of Kiké Hernández.
During the game, however, outfielder Alex Call exited with an apparent injury. Manager Dave Roberts said he felt something in his lower back, but added he’s not too concerned.
“We’ll see how he responds to treatment tomorrow,” Roberts said,” but I don’t think it’s too concerning.”
In other news, the Dodgers signed a veteran reliever to fortify the bullpen last week as they inked a right-hander to a minor league contract. The 30-year-old last played at the major league level in 2022, but has spent the last two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Additionally, the Dodgers placed a key reliever on the injured list in what was a surprising move. Ahead of the eventual victory, LA reinstated Blake Snell off the paternity list, but at the expense of the southpaw landing on the IL, with no prior news regarding an injury.
Finally, slugging third baseman Max Muncy has a promising return timeline. The All-Star is expected to be back soon, after he starts his rehab assignment later this week.
