WASHINGTON (7News) — The Washington Nationals are hosting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Day on August 29 at Nats Park.

As the Nationals take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:45 p.m., fans can expect to see pregame and in-game moments, including a performance by the Morgan State Marching band.

Fans with special HBCU tickets will receive an exclusive co-branded HBCU Day T-shirt.

In addition to honoring HBCUs, the Nationals will also honor the Howard University softball team, which recently won the 2025 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship.

Additionally, the colors of the game will be presented by the Howard University Color Guard, the national anthem will be sung by saxophonist and Bowie State alumnus Eddie K. Jr., and a rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing will also be sung prior to first pitch.

After the game, Ja Rule and Grammy-award winner Ashanti will perform as part of the Nats Postgame Summer Concert series.

The postgame concert is free to attend with the purchase of a game ticket and will begin approximately 30 minutes following the final out.
