The Arizona Diamondbacks selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Taylor Rashi from Triple-A Reno, optioned right-hander Juan Morillo and designated infielder Tristin English for assignment on Wednesday.

Rashi has never pitched at the big-league level. The 29-year-old has been primarily used as a reliever this season for the Reno Aces and has pitched in 40 games, making two starts. In 67.1 innings, he sported a 3.48 ERA with 72 strikeouts and 30 walks.

Arizona acquired Rashi from the San Franciso Giants in the first round of the 2022 Rule 5 draft.

Morillo allowed a run on two walks and a hit without recording an out in Tuesday’s loss at the Milwaukee Brewers. He holds a 4.55 ERA with 32 strikeouts and 20 walks over 31.2 innings with the D-backs. Morillo has split time between the majors and Reno this season and most recently returned to the major leagues on Aug. 11.

He has made 15 appearances in Triple-A Reno this year and holds a 3.60 ERA.

In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Rashi, English was designated for assignment.

English, 28, made his major league debut against the San Diego Padres on July 9. He recorded an RBI in the 8-2 win.

In seven games with the Diamondbacks, he slashed .091/.130/.136 with eight strikeouts, two hits and a walk.

English was selected in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Georgia Tech.
