► FOLLOW ALONG

• Final: Gorman flies out, Winn strikes out swinging, Saggese walks, and Pages is retired on weird hope to Gonzales, who has to barehand the ball to throw him out. Wild ending.

• Dennis Santana pitching for Pirates.

• Gonzales ground out to third, Cutch called out looking, Cruz walks after falling behind in a 1-2 count, and Davis goes down on strikes.

• End eighth inning: Mattson breezes through Herrera, Burleson, and Contreras.

• Isaac Mattson pitching for Pirates.

• Reynolds draws a one-out walk, but Pham grounds into an inning-ending double play.

• End seventh inning: Chandler breezes through the seventh and he’s now finished off four scoreless to give him eight scoreless at the big-league level. Seems to me like Chandler is already adapting well.

• Quick top of the seventh. Two more strikeouts for Gray.

• End sixth inning: Chandler gets Saggese to ground out 6-3. Nine pitches at 100 in that inning from Chandler. Just ramps it up as he goes. He’s at 46 pitches over three innings. Same exact number Mlodzinski finished at.

• Chandler strikes out Contreras and Gorman before hitting Winn with 100 mph heat.

• Pirates loaded the bases again on a Cutch walk, but Cruz goes down swinging to end the threat.

• RUNS: Pham delivers with a one-out, two-run single. Pirates, 2-1

• Horwitz reaches on an E3. Contreras looked to second, hesitated and then flipped it past Gray. Bases loaded with nobody out.

• Well, IKF and Triolo haven’t had issues getting on against Gray. IKF doubles to lead off the sixth and Triolo walks for a second time.

• End fifth inning: Chandler starting to bring a little bit more heat. Gets Herrera to line out on a 100 mph fastball and then hits 101 to get Burleson to fly out. Strands two.

• Chandler’s first big-league walk comes to Nootbaar after getting ahead 0-2. Two on with one out here in the fifth.

• Pages leads off the fifth with a single off Chandler.

• Bats just can’t generate anything against Gray. Non-existent. Another 1-2-3 inning.

• End fourth inning: Chandler breezes through a scoreless frame. Wasn’t ripping triple digits there, but consistently around 98, 99 with the fastball. Steady dose of heaters, changeups and sliders in a nine-pitch inning.

• Chandler gets the fourth.

• Gray strikes out two more in a scoreless fourth.

• Bubba Chandler is warming up in the bullpen.

• End third inning: Mlodzinski walked a batter and allowed a single with one out, but he strikes out the side and strands runners on the corners.

• Horwitz grounds out 4-3. Two stranded.

• IKF delivers the Pirates’ first hit with a two-out single in the third. Triolo follows with a walk. Two on, two outs for Horwitz.

• End second inning: Cardinals get a run on an RBI single by Pages that followed a single by Winn and a walk to Saggese. But the latter is thrown out at third for the final out. Cardinals, 1-0

• Another quick 1-2-3 inning for Gray. Only at 15 pitches over two innings.

• End first inning: Mlodzinski allows a one-out walk to Herrera before inducing a 4-6-3 double play off the bat of Burleson.

• A quick top of the first for Gray. Three ground ball outs off the bats of Triolo, Horwitz and Reynolds.

• First pitch: Pirates vs. Cardinals, 7:46 p.m. Eastern, Gray to Triolo, 75 degrees, cloudy
