Rockies Report, Game 133:
ROCKIES BOTTOM LINE: Chase Dollander seems to be figuring some things out — on the road.
He went six strong innings, allowing just one run and three hits while striking out seven, but it was far from enough as the Rockies mustered just four hits — all singles — in a 4-0 loss at Houston on Wednesday night.
Dollander allowed his only run in the first inning after walking Yordan Alvarez, allowing him to advance to second on a wild pitch, then conceding a single to Jesús Sánchez.
That was all for Dollander.
But the Rockies advanced just one runner to third base. Tyler Freeman had two hits — half of the Rockies’ total.
This was the third shutout of the road trip for the Rockies, who dropped to 38-95. It was also the 14th shutout of the season for the Rox, one below their season-long total of last year and two off their franchise record, set in 2021.
ROCKIES STARTER’S REPORT
So, Dollander away from Coors Field is starting to look like the real deal.
In nine road starts, Dollander has a 3.64 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Opponents are hitting .212 against him. At home, those numbers are 9.88, 2.02 and a ghastly .341. What’s more, all of his quality starts have been on the road, including Wednesday’s.
Aided by a pair of double plays, Dollander overcame bouts of wildness — four walks and a wild pitch — to shut down the Astros over the course of his 98-pitch night.
BITS AND PIECES
IT WAS DECIDED FOR THE ROCKIES WHEN: Alvarez clubbed a 2-run blast off Angel Chivilli in the eighth inning to double Houston’s advantage to 4-0.

NUMBER TO NOTE: .045 — Colorado’s batting average for the 3-through-9 spots in the lineup, as they went 1-for-22 on Wednesday.
WHAT’S NEXT: Kyle Freeland looks to avoid his 14th loss in the infal game of the road trip. The Astros counter with Jason Alexander. First pitch is at 12:10 p.m. MDT.
