Milwaukee Brewers leftfielder Christian Yelich called his shot years before Travis Kelce.

Taylor Swift’s love story wasn’t with an MLB star. It was, of course, with the football star.

But 10 years ago, Yelich, then with the Miami Marlins, was asked if he could ask anyone a question and would be guaranteed a yes, what would the question be and who would he ask it to.

“I’d ask Taylor Swift on a date,” Yelich told sports on-air talent, producer and content creator Matthew Stucko, who recirculated the video after the Swift-Kelce engagement heard around the world. “That’d be my one question for a guaranteed yes.”

“Yeah, of course, man,” Yelich said. “I mean, who isn’t.”

Swift, however, must not have seen that interview. She did, though, see the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s podcast that kicked off their high-profile romance over the last two years, culminating with an epic proposal.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce became the most-talked-about couple in the sports and entertainment world in fall 2023. The origin of their relationship began after Kelce attended Swift’s The Eras Tour concert that summer at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Kelce wanted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but after he didn’t get that opportunity, the All-Pro tight end took to his “New Heights” podcast that he hosts with his brother, Jason, to tell the story and about wanting to meet her.

The two ultimately connected and soon formed a power couple.

Swift began attending Chiefs games that fall, including a stop in Green Bay when Kansas City played the Packers, that became must-see and Kelce has been a frequent guest at the pop queen’s concerts.

Taylor Swift might not be cheering him on from suites at American Family Field, but Christian Yelich has enjoyed a successful career in Milwaukee. He has an NL MVP award and three All-Star Game appearances, and has become the face of the franchise in his eighth season in Milwaukee.
