In his longest pitching outing so far this season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani gave up a solo home run in the third inning.

He did not yield much else.

Noelvi Marte homered in the third inning. Other than that, the Cincinnati Reds collected one hit off Ohtani, and the Dodgers beat the Reds 5-1 at Los Angeles Wednesday night.

Ohtani struck out nine in his five innings of pitching, his longest outing of the year so far. Ohtani (1-1) earned his first pitching win as a Dodger. He received a standing ovation when he left the mound after getting the third out in the top of the fifth.

The Dodgers widened their lead in the National League West Division to two games over the San Diego Padres, who lost 4-3 at Seattle Wednesday night. Michael Conforto homered for the Dodgers Wednesday night, and Enrique Hernandez and Dalton Rushing both singled in two runs.

The Dodgers will host the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday night to open a weekend series. The Padres will begin their series at Minnesota Friday, and the Los Angels Angels will open their series against American League West Division leader Houston that day.Â
