Wyatt Langford has been on fire for the Rangers as he is doing everything he can to get them in the postseason. His slash line over his past seven games is .375/.516/.667 with a home run and three RBIs with six walks compared to five strikeouts.
This isn’t just a hot stretch as he has been hot for the last month with a .311/.434/.519 with four home runs and nine RBIs with a 21 walk to 30 strikeout ratio. This is what the Rangers know that their young star can do and they are hoping that he can do this over the course of an entire season.
Langford also contributes to the team in other ways besides his bat as he has swiped 18 bases and 10 outs above average while playing a good amount of center field since Evan Carter went down and he not has missed a beat since moving over from the corner outfield. This is very impressive as one of the knocks on Langford pre draft was that he would struggle in center.
Langford is not the only one who has been hot as there are a number of hitters in the lineup who are also swinging hot bats.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager continues to the consistent core of the team with him slashing .375/.464/.667 with two home runs and four RBIs over his past seven games. He has done this despite being pulled in a couple of these games due to blowouts, so his stats could be higher.
Josh Jung and Adolis Garcia
Josh Jung is another player who has been hot with a .375/.400/.542 with a homer and four RBIs. Jung improved his performance after facing struggles that led to his demotion to Triple-A.
Adolis Garcia has been hot over the past week too. He is slashing .357/.400/.750 with two home runs four RBIs. He had a big game in the finale against the Angels going 4 for 6 with a home run and five RBIs. Hopefully, this will bring back the 2023 version of him.
Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson has really turned his season around after having a 0 for 41 streak earlier in the season. Over the last week he is hitting .321 and has been hitting .240 over the last month. He has had some big at bats over the past month and has hit 5 of his 7 home runs on the season in this time.
Like Garcia, he had a big game in the finale going 2 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs. The Rangers are going to need Pederson to keep preforming like this if they want to make the playoffs.
Season Outlook
The Rangers are sitting 4.5 games back of the Seattle Mariners for the final playoff spot. They do not play the Mariners again this season, so that will make it tougher to make games up against them. However, with the way the Rangers have played against them, it may be a good thing.
The offense is going to need to keep the way that they have lately especially with Nathan Eovaldi going down and the pitching staff will need to step up to pick up his absence as well.
The Rangers have all the talent in the world to make the playoffs, but they are going to need to put it all together if they want to play in October.
