The crowd of more than 47,000 at Dodger Stadium came ready to keep the party going Friday night. Instead, they watched the Arizona Diamondbacks turn Chavez Ravine into a lesson in timely pitching and missed opportunities, handing the Dodgers a 3–0 loss that snapped Los Angeles’ four-game winning streak.

Right-hander Zac Gallen never let the Dodgers get comfortable, scattering just three hits over six innings and striking out eight. His fastball sat on the corners all evening, and his curveball drew flailing swings from the heart of the Los Angeles order. When he walked off the mound after the sixth, he had not allowed a runner past second base.

?

Blaze Alexander broke open the scoreless game in the fourth, turning on a 1-2 fastball from Blake Snell and sending it deep into the left-field pavilion. The two-run homer gave Arizona all the cushion it would need. The Diamondbacks added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Ketel Marte, capitalizing on a leadoff double that chased Snell from the game.

Snell was sharp early, striking out five of the first nine batters he faced, but he struggled with command as his velocity dipped in the middle innings. He left after 5? innings, charged with all three runs on five hits.

“I felt like I had good stuff early, but I missed one spot and it cost us,” Snell said afterward. “Their guy just outpitched me tonight.”

The Dodgers’ offense, which had produced 22 runs over the past four games, was unusually flat. Mookie Betts managed a ringing double in the sixth but was stranded. Freddie Freeman grounded out twice with runners on, and Shohei Ohtani struck out swinging in the eighth against reliever Kevin Ginkel with the tying run in the on-deck circle.

Manager Dave Roberts credited Gallen’s performance but lamented the missed chances. “We had pitches to hit,” Roberts said. “We just didn’t square them up. You can’t expect to win many games with three hits.”

The loss could have tightened the division race — but down in San Diego, the Padres fell 7–4 to Minnesota, allowing Los Angeles to maintain its two-game lead in the National League West.

For now, the Dodgers sit at 77–58 with 27 games to play. They will send Bobby Miller to the mound Saturday in hopes of reclaiming momentum before embarking on a road trip to Pittsburgh and Baltimore next week.

Friday night served as a reminder that in a tight race, nothing comes easy — not even at home, not even with the lead.
